Let's Get to Know Each Other!

I'm not gonna lie to myself and think that anyone (but my English teacher) will read this blog, but anyway I thought it would be nice to introduce myself a little bit in the first post. And what's a better way to do it than answering the questions included in the Proust Questionnaire! For those of you who have no idea what the heck is that misterious "Proust Questionnaire" just a quick explanation. It's basically a list of several, deeply personal questions. The questionnaire is told to be created by the famous French 20th century writer, Marcel Proust. At the time it was a sort of social game played in the european drawing rooms. There are several different versions ot the questionnaire. Here's one of them filled in by me. Without further ado let's get to it!

1. The principal aspect of my personality. For me it's perverseness. I'm not very proud of it but sometimes it turns out to be useful.

2. The qualities that I desire in a man. Responsibility, confidence, tenderness, loyalty.

3. The qualities that I desire in a woman. Gentleness, patience, determination.

4. What I appreciate most about my friends? Thoughtfulness, commitment, honesty.

5. My main fault. Cowardice.

6. My favourite occupation. Climbing the Tatras, dancing and going through old photo albums.

7.  My dream of happiness. Being a wife and a mom, living in a cosy little house surrounded by many, many trees.

8. What would be my greatest misfortune? Letting down somebody who put their trust in me.

9. If not myself, who would I be? I wish I had focused more on my musical education in the past because I would love to be a musician but I guess it's too late now.

10. My favourite heros and heroines in fiction. Number one for me is Anne Shirley, she's my kindred spirit.

11. Who are your favourite writers? C. S. Lewis, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Edward Stachura, Kszysztof Kamil Baczyński

12. How would I like to die? Knowing that I did everything I could to make the world a better place.

So, there you have it. I hope you enjoyed my answers and maybe I inspired you to have a little fun yourself answering the Proust Questionnaire. Not only is it a great way to find out something new about your friends but also to get to know your own mind and soul a little bit better:)

The Dark World of Harlan Coben

I'm not completely sure why but I really enjoy watching crime shows. There's just something so compelling about slowly revealing all the secrets and finding out who is the murderer. Of course, not every crime series is great but I've recently seen two terrific ones and I'd like to tell you a little bit about them. Both of them are based on Harlan Coben's novels. I've never read any of them but Coben is a writer and a producer on both shows, so I guess they are pretty faithful to the original books. One is called The Stranger , the other is called Safe . They are actually very similar to each other and a viewer can find many parallels between the two of them, both plot-wise and characters-wise.  Both stories are set in the same background; in a suburban community of very successful and wealthy people. At first sight it seems like their lives are perfect and there is no place for any kind of darkness or horror there. However, not so far into the shows

My Place On Earth

Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about my family and my roots. Both my Mom's and my Dad's grandparents after the World War II decided to settle in Lower Silesia, the land that was reclaimed by Poland after the war, in exchange of some teritories in the East that were attached to the Soviet Union. Both of my parents were born and raised in the same small village right next to the city of Wrocław, called Długołęka (the name could be translated to English as "long meadow"). What's more, they were both born in the same year so starting from nursery school they went to the same class. They even danced together a traditional Polish dance "krakowiak" during one of the performances in the nursery school. (Pesonally I think that's adorable!). They were each other's high school sweet-hearts and after getting married they decided they wanted to stay in Długołęka. They built a house there in which we all live right now. And by "us all&q

My Favourite Scents

You know how they say that most people are visual learners and others have more developed sense of hearing? But why do we take into consideration only these two senses and don't talk about the other ones? Some time ago I realised that smells, scents, odours and aromas are a huge part of my reality. They have the power to ease my mind and help me relax. They can trigger memories that I didn't know I still remembered. For example when I start using again a shampoo that I used to wash my hair with some time ago, suddenly my mind is filled with images and memories from that period. Or when my mum makes exactly the same apple pie that she would make when I was a kid and I can smell just a hint od its aroma, I'm immediately taken back to my childhood. So, today let me present you some of my favourite scents. It's such a pity I can't pass them on to you through the screen and only talk about them, but you can always use your imagination or maybe even surround yourself
